Top five Specialties OP Wards at Rajiv Gandhi- Swing to MMC Premises

Keeping the conveniences of the treatment receiving patients in mind, top five Specialties Out-Patient (OP) wards at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, will be shifted from the hospital to the Madras Medical college building.

Soon the In-Patient ward of the neurology department with 100 beds will also be moved to the MMC building. 

Five major out-patient wards include rheumatology, hematology, urology, nephrology and hemophilia; earlier it has been handled in general OP located behind the main tower blocks of the RGGGH.  These OP are getting shifted to the earlier microbiology and biochemistry departments in the old MMC building.

Already the shifting work for two departments namely Rheumatology and Hematology is almost done and shifting work for the rest is underway.These shifting works will be suitable for both the doctors and the patients, stated by the higher officials of the shifting department.

The location of the building is well planned in the college building, allowing it to trace it out easily unlike at RGGGH, where it is situated across the vehicle parking area and the hospital cafeteria.

The EEG and EMG checks in the neurology department, where a minimum of about 50 patients getting treatment a day, will be patched out in first floor with proper ventilations and ramps, the officials described.
