Thirty one years is a long time in the professional career of a person and when a person dedicates those 31 years for the service of the people then the person is really sensational and inspiring.
We are now talking about none other than Mr. Ravi, an IPS officer belonging to the 1991 batch. On Tuesday, Mr, Ravi retired after 31 years of service. Rajarathinam Stadium was very busy yesterday as a farewell function took place for Mr. Ravi. This native of Dindigul spoke about how he had retired officially now. He added that he would still be continuing the public service.
Not many would know that Mr. Ravi stayed in Delhi and worked for a nationalised bank before joining IPS. Mr. Ravi shed light on how atleast a dozen of people including the current chief secretary Mr. Irai Anbhu, DGP Mr. Sylendra Babu, TN Police Housing Corporation DGP Mr. A.K. Viswanthan etc have visited his bank quarters in Delhi.
Some years back, when Mr. Ravi was SP in Railways, biscuit bandits made hay by stealing expensive and precious things from people by giving them sedative laced biscuits. Mr. Ravi did amazingly to catch them.
Beginning his career as SP in Nagapattinam, Mr. Ravi then made his presence felt in places like Villupuram, Dindigul etc. He also held posts like SP in Railways, DCP Traffic (North Chennai), JC north Chennai, Additional Commissioner of Traffic in Chennai and IGP Aavin. It is superb to note that Mr. Ravi was the first police commissioner of Tambaram in Chennai.
Mr. Ravi was sad that he would not be able to wear his police uniform anymore but would continue his service for the public. Mr. Ravi was appreciated earlier for his physical as well as his mental toughness by none other than Chennai police commissioner Mr. Shankar Jiwal.
Mr. Sylendra Babu, DGP mentioned that he and Mr Ravi were classmates during college days. He added that Mr. Ravi was highly determined and was able to crack the civic service exams in 1991.He concluded that Mr. Ravis house in Delhi was a place for civic service aspirants who lacked facilities to prepare for the exam. God bless Mr. Ravi!!
