Appeal from Secretary, Health Department - Do not neglect regulations because of reduction in spread and arrival of the vaccine!

COVID-19 infection was confirmed for 191 persons including the staff and students in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Chennai and 6 students in Anna University.

They were all admitted in the Guindy King Institute Government Corona Hospital.

In this situation, the function of �sending-off� for 28 students who have recovered from coronavirus infection was organised in the above hospital yesterday |(Friday, 18th December). The Secretary of the Department of Health for the State Government of Tamil Nadu, Radhakrishnan participated in this event enquired the students about their health.

After the event, the recovered students were lodged in an exclusive hostel Badra located in IIT, Chennai, Guindy, advised being kept in isolation.

Subsequently, the Health Secretary had a session with the press reporters. He shared:

�We, at Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), conduct testing once in 15 days in 97 colleges and 161 hostels. More than 6000 samples were taken and tested and over 4000 results have come. 210 persons have been confirmed with the coronavirus infection. �Walk-in Test Centres� has been set up in the Chennai IIT Complex. Exclusive medical squads are functioning.

More than 1300 samples have been taken from Anna University. Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has announced that the number of daily tests has been increased to 11000!

The ratio of virus confirmation is under 2.5% in the State of Tamil Nadu. The percentage of death, which was at 0.86% last week, has increased to 1.1% this week! The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has ordered that this should be brought down to below 1%. Appeal:

PLEASE DO NOT BE CARELESS AND NEGLECT HEALTH REGULATIONS BELIEVING THE TREND OF REDUCTION IN INFECTION OR THE AVAILABILITY OF VACCINE FOR CORONAVIRUS BEING AVAILABLE SOON!

In this regard, all Departments are being advised by the Public Health Department! No legal action has been initiated against the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai as this would lead to unnecessary panic among the public.�
