Ever since it was announced that the schools for the classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 would reopen from 16th November in TN, there were many oppositions. Yesterday, 9th November, the parents were asked to give their feedback in sending their kids to the schools in the TN state and a mixed response was received.

The truth is that the parents belonging to the northern and western districts in TN were not willing to send their kids to the schools. The reason for this was due to the presence of more Covid-19 cases even now. It must be noted that the parents belonging to the southern districts of TN were willing to send their kids to the schools.

According to Sujatha, principal of Vaels International School in Chennai spoke about how feedback has been collected from the parents of the school students and this was according to the guidelines from the government. She pointed out that the majority of the parents were not willing to send their kids to the schools due to the fear of Coronavirus infection.

Mr. Arumainathan, president of TN Students and Parents Welfare Association expressed his views. . He mentioned that 75% of the parents in Chennai city and in the suburbs have requested the schools to be reopened from the month of January 2021 with the condition of availability of the vaccine or with the restoration of normalcy. There were many parents who were confused and wanted the school management to take the decision.

It was later brought out by an assistant headmaster of a Minjur based school that more than 80% parents were not willing to send their kids to the schools now. The headmaster then highlighted that the parents were scared as they were in doubt regarding the kids maintaining social distancing in the schools. It was revealed that the senior citizens living with the school students would be at huge risk if the student goes to the school.

As per Mr. D.C. Elangovan, secretary, Federation of Associations of Private Schools in TN, as the Covid-19 cases have reduced in the southern districts in TN the 70% of parents were willing to send their kids to the schools.
