The auto hub, Oragadam was buzzing with activities yesterday after the lockdown was relaxed in TN.
The staffs belonging to the auto factories around Chennai were in full strength and the smaller factories were waiting for more buses to carry their staff. IT based staff are continuing with their work from home. Banks in Chennai are back to the normal now with full strength.
It is important to mention here that the auto hub of Oragadam got back its shop floor workers and increased production to build up inventory for the forthcoming festival season.
Popular companies like Hyundai and Daimler have been busy increasing their production in the second shift while others like Royal Enfield are taking cautious approaches in bringing its employees back. Information IT giants like TCS, Infosys, CTS, Verizon, OrangeScape etc are continuing the WFH arrangements. Truth is these IT companies haven�t yet finalised their back-to-work plans.
According to Mr. Balaji Uppili, chief customer success officer at AI firm GVAS, there is lots of anxiety among the employees to report to the office. He added that his company has got many staff members all over India.
As per an executive from the tech industry, the tech companies were not in a hurry to get back to the offices. There are now just 3 to 5% workforce within offices of the tech companies and it would change slowly.
It was brought out by a senior employee of SBI that on 1st September 90% of attendance was achieved and on 31st August it was just around 50%.
Now that complete lockdown without relaxation on Sundays have been cancelled, the banks having Sunday working branches have been asked to function as usual from Monday. Lack of suburban trains has been cited as the reason for just 50% workforce in the factories at the Ambattur Industrial Estate.
