It has been announced the prevailing restrictions will continue until the next order in this regard is issued by the State Government of Tamil Nadu.
A committee has been formed presided by the State Government Finance Department Secretary Krishnan to discuss, analyze and submit a report to the State Government as to what sectors of the industry may be allowed to start functioning from 20th April and then the guidelines to gradually relax the prevailing lockdown restrictions.
The secretaries of the various departments of the Tamil Nadu State Government such as Revenue, Labour, DGP, Health, Industry, Housing Facility, Education, and Transport, Former Vice-Chancellor and the Microbiology expert, Theyagarajan and the retired doctor Guhanathan, the representative from the Indian Medical Council are included in the Committee comprising of a total of 17 members.
Further, the Revenue Administration Commissioner Radhakrishnan, National Infectious Diseases Centre Director, India Real Estate Developers� Federation representative, and the representative from the micro/mini/small scale industry have all been added as the member of the above committee.
A meeting of this committee was conducted on the day-before-yesterday (Friday, 17th April).
The 2nd meeting of the committee was conducted yesterday from 3.30 PM to 5.20 PM at the Chennai Headquarters, the Secretariat, presided by the president and the Secretary of the State Government Department of Finance, Krishnan.
The issues of which sectors of the industry should be allowed to resume as per the guidelines of the central government, how many vehicles must be allowed to operate for transporting the employees, etc., were discussed in the above meeting. With this, it is expected that there may be some relaxation allowed from tomorrow (Monday, 20th April).
Meanwhile, a notification has been released by the Tamil Nadu government:
�Since the next order comes from the State Government of Tamil Nadu, the present lockdown conditions will prevail. The Experts Committed formed by the State Government of Tamil Nadu will submit the report of the 1st Phase consultation tomorrow (20th April). This recommendation will be reviewed by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu who will take a decision in this regard.�
