As compared to 2015, TCS has applied for just one-third of total H-1B work visa this year. This is further surged with hiring by engineering campuses and B-schools in the US.
This move follows Indian IT firms being imposed with stricter visa norms in the US, the nation that counts to more than 60 percent of exports in India’s IT.
In the past years, we have substantially increased, replicating most other programs that have proved functional in India. This includes partnering academic institutions, engaging high school students, etc.
It is further said that TCS is recruiting from across a hundred engineering campuses and MBA graduates studying in leading B-schools in the US.
This altogether aids us in reducing our dependence on work visas. Last year and this year, we had applied just for one-third of visas that we totally applied in 2015.
In markets like Singapore and Australia, there is increasing protectionism. The firms are adjusting their businesses to cut own their reliance on visas and rather showing interest in hiring more.
With this increase in local hiring, they also intend placating the administration of Donald Trump in the US which has been critical of all outsourcing firms.
