Sixth navigation satellite IRNSS-1F is all set to be launched on board trusted workhorse PSLV C32 today at 4 pm by Indian Space agency ISRO.

Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle-C32 on its 34th mission would launch the IRNSS-1F, aimed at providing navigation accurately on par with the US based Global Positioning System, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at the spaceport of Sriharikota.

As in the previous five launches of IRNSS satellites. PSLV-C32 will use the `XL` version of PSLV.

This will be the 12th time that the XL configuration will be flown. The earlier 11 occasions were the PSLV-C11/Chandrayan-1, PSLV-C17/GSAT-12, PSLV-C19/RISAT-1, PSLV-C22/IRNSS-1A, PSLV-C25/Mars Orbiter Spacecraft, PSLV-C24/IRNSS-1B, PSLV-C26/IRNSS-1C, PSLV-C27/IRNSS-1D, PSLV-C28/DMC3, PSLV-C30/ASTROSAT and PSLV-C31/IRNSS-1E missions.

IRNSS-1F will form part of the seven-satellite IRNSS that is being developed as an independent regional navigation satellite system by India.

IRNSS is designed to provide accurate information services to users in India as well as the region extending upto 1500 km from its boundary, which is the primary service area. The Extended Service Area lies between primary service area and area enclosed by the rectangle from latitude 30 deg South to 50 deg North, longitude 30 deg East to 130 deg East.
