Heavy Showers to Continue for 3 More Days

The low pressure on Andaman region has intensified and developed into a low pressure zone. This has in fact formed as a cyclone here. 

Announcing about this, Director of Meteorological department, Ramanan stated that the condition of cyclone that is presently at 100 km distance from Chennai, beyond Sri Lanka is gradually heading towards Tamil Nadu. This is likely to turn into a cyclone and largely affect Cuddalore tomorrow, the Monday. It will migrate from Cuddalore and flush out Chennai on day after tomorrow, the Tuesday. Wind blow along the seashore is likely to be of 50 to 60 km speed. Hence, fishermen are alerted not to go for fishing.

As the cyclone is fast approaching, Tamil Nadu is prone to heavy rain showers for three more days (between 15th and 18th of November).

Apart from Chennai, Cuddalore and Pondichery, other coastal districts including Vilupuram, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Tanjore, Nagapattinam, Thiruvaroor, Pudhukottai, Ramanadhapuram, Sivagangai, Kanyakumari, Selam, Dharmapuri, Coimbatore, Dhindugal, Madurai, Nilgiris, Virudhunagar, etc are also experiencing heavy showers.
