A new schemed, named in Hindi as �Rashtriya Bal Swastya Krayakrama�, is being planned by the Tamil Nadu state government which will provide free medical assistance towards the better health of the students in all government schools including anganwadis, primary, middle, and high schools.
This scheme is being implement with the assistance from the central government. The recruitment of doctors, nurses, and pharmacists is being conducted for this scheme.
The scheme would be implemented from 1st April.
All students of all government school swill be given medical check-ups and given treatment. If required, arrangements will be made for continuation of treatment at the special wards of the government hospitals.
A 15 member team of specialists in general health, nervous systems, ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat), skin, mental health, and dentistry is being formed.
A separate director is to be appointed for this scheme at State level and medical squads will be formed under the deputy director of the districts health departments. 385 circles in Tamil Nadu state will get 2 teams each for a total of 770 teams.
The scheme is being implemented on a trial basis in Madurai district first. 26 latest vehicles have been provided to 26 teams for this district.
15 doctors have been working under this scheme from January. Nurses and pharmacists will be recruited shortly.
5,88,577 school children will benefit by this scheme. The head treatment ward for this scheme is located in the ground floor of Maduari Rajaji Government hospital.
