During his maiden visit to India, after climbing the post as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Microsoft Corp, Satya Nadella made an announcement that the multinational conglomerate will launch its local data centres here in our country. The company will provide cloud services from its Office 360 to the local business and government clients. This is expected for the company to outdo other giants like Google and Amazon that are already involved in providing similar cloud and office suits for businesses.
These new data centres from Microsoft will enable the customers get access to banking and financial services. Initiatives by the government like Digital India, smart cities, other schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana are likely to be benefitted by this data and cloud services. The company plans to launch these centres before end of 2015.
To note, Satya Nadella aging 47 hails from Hydrabad and got posted as the third CEO of Microsoft earlier this year. He says Microsoft has got a 100 per cent cloud business growth in India. He says there are over 250 million smartphone users and the number is counting on and on. Cloud is necessary to keep these touch points connected, he adds.
