Important news!! Increase in the fees for medical courses in TN from this academic year!!

Through the Directorate of Medical Education and Research, the government and private medical college seats are filled through counselling based on scores obtained in the NEET examination.

The Fee fixation committee is responsible for fixing the limits of MBBS fees in the private medical colleges across Tamil Nadu. It must be noted that there are 3300 MBBS seats available in these private medical colleges in TN.  The tuition fees for government allotted seats range from Rs 3.85 lakhs to Rs 4.15 lakhs per year.

Now, there is an increase in the fees for MBBS seats in the management quota and NRI quota categories in the private medical colleges in TN.

It is worthy to note that in the current academic year the fees for MBBS courses in the private medical colleges in TN have been increased by Rs 1.50lakhs. Likewise, the NRI quota fees for MBBS courses in the private medical colleges is also increased by Rs 2.50lakhs. Point is that in the medical colleges in TN the documents are properly reviewed and the fees are fixed education, library, laboratory, admission, computer, internet service, sports etc.

The committee headed by Mr. Justice Ponappan has now fixed a new fee range. The fees for government quota, management quota and NRI quotas in the private medical colleges have been re-examined. The fees for management quota and NRI quota have been increased now. In 21 self-financing medical colleges in TN, the fees for MBBS under the government quota have been fixed from Rs 435000 to Rs 450000. There is no change in the government quota fees.

Important piece of information is that the fees for the MBBS courses offered under the management quota under 21 self financing medical colleges in TN namely Trichy based Sreenivasan Medical College, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Medical College, Sri Venkateswara Medical College and Kanniyakumari Medical Mission have been fixed at Rs 540000 for government quota seats.

Point to be noted is that the fees for MBBS courses offered under the management quota in 21 self financing medical colleges has been increased by Rs 1.5lakhs to Rs 1500000.In the same manner, the fees for the MBBS courses offered under the NRI quota in these medical colleges has been increased by Rs 2.50lakhs to Rs 2700000 from Rs 2450000.

The management quota seats in the 4 private universities have been increased by Rs 60000 to Rs 3000000 from Rs 2940000.

Post Graduate courses (clinical & non-clinical courses):

The fees for PG medical courses have been increased also. It is learnt that for clinical PG courses under the government quota the fees would be Rs 350000 and under the management quota the fees will be Rs 1600000 and Rs 2900000 under the NRI quota.

For non-clinical and for other PG courses, the fees under the government quota would be Rs 300000 and for management quota fees would be Rs 500000 and for NRI quota the fees wouould be Rs 1900000. From 2025 to 2028, the fee details published now would be followed. As an additional college development fund, the medical colleges could collect Rs 60000 from the students. Point is that these fees do not include accommodation, transport and mess etc. The students must pay these fees as per the colleges.
