Eight new closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras will help improve surveillance on the second floor of the building. There are also plans to install a camera at the building’s main entrance. The hospital already has 24 CCTV cameras, and the control room is located inside the office of the superintendent. The additional cameras will help enhance surveillance of the hospital and will allow officials to keep track of the movement of people.
“At present, the first floor of the hospital building, which has the post-natal wards, where the mothers and their newborns are accommodated, is covered by cameras. We wanted to extend the surveillance network and so, are installing eight more cameras. These cameras will cover the second floor consisting of the chief minister’s comprehensive health insurance ward no. 500, gynecology ward, post-operative ward, operation theatre and neonatal intensive care unit,” said V. Kalaivani, superintendent of the hospital.
Wiring work to install the cameras has been completed and the cameras will be installed soon, she said.
