Pannur and Parandur might soon become highly popular!!
Airport Authority of India or AAI has shortlisted Pannur and Parandur as the 2 places for the Chennai second airport. The availability of lands and cost were taken into consideration for selecting these 2 places for the new airport by AAI.
Places near Chennai such as Thiruporur, Padalam, Pannur and Parandur were inspected by the team from Chennai. This was as per some sources belonging to AAI. The team had also prepared a pre-feasibility report about these 4 places. There have been some talks about continuing the existing airport at Tirusulam itself because travelling to the greenfield airport would take a long time.
Truth is that the sites at Padalam and Tiruporur have some constraints and limitations. Various aspects have been deliberated before deciding about the sites at Parandur and Pannur. It is now said that TIDCO would have discussion with the state government about the sites for the second airport in Chennai.
