It is not only the Coronavirus infection that has been creating problems for the residents of Chennai now.
In the last 15 days, as many as 97 Dengue cases have been reported in Chennai. This has now become the subject of discussion. For carrying door-to-door checks, as many as 3619 personnel have been deployed by the GCC across all the zones for intensifying its dengue prevention measures.
It was later brought to light by GCC that out of a total of 97 dengue cases Adyar zones tops with 27 cases. Next is Kodambakkam with 18 cases followed by Teynampet with 15 cases.
Soon, door-door inspections would be carried out to check for the water stagnation in all the buildings and residences in these 3 important GCC zones. This was according to the Chennai corporation commissioner Mr. Gagandeep Singh Bedi. It is known that water stagnation could help in the breeding of the dengue mosquitoes.
Inspections were carried out in various places in Chennai and it was found out that 12546 houses in Chennai had mosquito breeding and this included 1000 houses in zones like Tondiarpet, Thiru Vi- Ka Nagar, Kodambakkam and Adyar. The house owners would be issued notices during the first violation and Rs 100 for the second violation and Rs 200 for the third violation.
It is learnt that the apartment complexes would be fined Rs 500 for the first violation, Rs 5000 for the second violation and Rs 15000 for the third violation. A fine of Rs 500 would be collected from small shops for the first violation, Rs 2000 for the second and Rs 5000 for the third violation.
Point to be noted is that the government buildings and industries and commercial establishments etc would have to pay Rs 10000 for first violation, Rs 25000 for second and Rs 1 lakh for third violations.
