If you think that you are the only one who has got the urge to urinate frequently or having some sort of urinary tract infection or UTI, then dont worry. There are many now in Chennai city having these issues. In this cold climate, the UTI cases have increased in the city of Chennai
It must be taken into note that the cold climate would put additional pressure on the urinary bladder of a person. Truth is that the cold climate perpetuates poor hydration habits and plays a role in the sedentary lifestyle. This in turn would aggravate the urinary bladder.
Interstitial cystitis:
The doctors have confirmed that the cold weather could lead to a condition called interstitial cystitis. Here, additional pressure is placed on the urinary bladder of a person. They have also mentioned the cold weather playing its role in the painful bladder syndrome. The cold weather has resulted in the drop in the hydration. It is known that by sweating our blood controls the water levels in us and in the winter season the absence of sweating would be reduced due to sedentary lifestyle.
As per Dr. Saravanan, consultant nephrologist, Apollo Hospitals, the sedentary lifestyle has become in the Coronavirus pandemic common leading to more number of UTI cases in the Chennai city. He spoke about how proper treatment must be given otherwise it could lead to upper and lower UTIs in a person. The doctors were of the view that a person might get affected with kidney issues later on if he or she doesnt get proper treatment.
More UTIs in women:
When compared to men, women would get affected by UTIS more due to their smaller length of their urinary tract. According to Dr. M. Jeevagan, senior urologist, Kauvery Hospitals, poor hydration in the winter season could lead to constipation issues in elder persons and further to UTIs. He wanted the patients to be more vigilant.
It was later brought to light by Dr. Murthy, senior consultant, paediatric surgery and paediatric urology, Rainbow Childrens Hospital that children could contract kidney issues that could lead to issues in their puberty.
