On Thursday, 26th December 2019, solar eclipse would take place between 8:06 am to 11:13 AM is well known. Point to be noted is this would be the third and final solar eclipse for the year 2019. The latest news is all the places of worship (temples) under HR & CE (Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department) would be opened on 26th December.
It is revealed that other temples in districts like Madurai would be shut or open to devotees during the eclipse as per the decision was taken by the local temple authorities. Till 12 pm, Tirumala temple at Tirupathi and in Chennai would remain closed on the solar eclipse day. The name ring of fire is given because of the fact that sun at 9:25 AM would appear like a ring.
From the early morning, temples in Chennai would be kept open despite solar eclipse. This was as per the sources belonging to HR & CE. In the month of margazhi, all temples open very early is known. On Thursday, popular Kapaleeswarar temple of Mylapore would be opened early as usual and abhishekam would go on till 8 am.
A senior temple official spoke about how at the start of the eclipse theerthavari or sprinkling water over the main idol would be done. He added that the devotees would be allowed to have darshan of God. He concluded that after the eclipse gets over it would be the time for 12 pm abhishekam and there would be a special Homam also.
As per the agama, special poojas would be done at the popular Parthasarathy temple in Triplicane and the darshan would not be stopped for the devotees.
Important piece of news is the Meenakshi Amman temple of Madurai would be opened only after the eclipse. The T. Nagar based TTD information centre temple in Chennai would open only at 3 pm in the evening and during the eclipse, this temple follows the Tirumala temple.
Mr Krishna Rao, TTD information centre member revealed that the temple would remain closed till 12 pm and special poojas and abhisekham would be done. After this only the temple would be opened for the devotees.
