It must be noted that the IT sector has got many customers across the world and the export-oriented IT sector has remained mostly protected by the domestic slowdown.
According to some analysts, it is clear that apart from IT giants, great demand for IT start-ups have also contributed towards more demands for engineers now. It is known that these IT start-ups have managed to raise successive investments round this 2019.
Mr. Supaul Chanda, head of HR firm Teamlease Digital, expressed his views. He mentioned about how the overall placements by the IT companies have gone up by 15 to 20% in 2019 when compared to 2018. He shed light on how apart from the usually ranked companies new IT start-ups have recruited also more engineers across the campuses.
It is important to note that IT companies look out for problem-solving, numerical aptitude and logical reasoning of the candidates In addition to these, the IT firms also looking out for the ‘learn-ability’ in this year.
Vice president and global head of talent acquisition at Cognizant Technologies, Mr. Suresh Bethavandu, spoke about how their company had superb hiring in 2019. He explained how usually his company visits about 75 engineering colleges in India and how this year his company visited about 100 engineering colleges.
He threw light on some of the engineering colleges in TN from where his company recruited candidates. The superb piece of information is Cognizant Technologies has increased the entry-level salaries for the engineers graduating in June 2020 and is Rs 4 lakhs per year. It is now revealed that those candidates who have been hired by Cognizant Technologies would join the company in June 2020.
According to Mr. Manoj Sharma, director of HR NetApp, candidates with strong knowledge of C, C++, Java and Python etc and with enthusiasm to learn would be preferred by them. It must be taken into account that NetApp’s hiring model involves hiring fresh engineers as interns, enrolling them in a 6-12 months long internship and then offering fulltime positions based on the performance of the candidates. Mr. Manoj Sharma revealed that the Vellore Institute of Technology or VIT in TN is mostly favored for campus recruitments and in this year almost one-third of intern hiring was from VIT.
