It is known that NEET is a single entrance test for admission to MBBS and BDS seats. To prepare the students belonging to government and government aided schools for NEET, coaching was given to many students. The latest news is inspite of this NEET coaching only eight students belonging to the above mentioned schools could secure medical seat in this year.
On Thursday, 28th of June, NEET based MBBS rank list was released and it caught the attention of many. Only eight students belonging to government and government aided schools got ranks within top 3000.
It is worthy to mention here that out of a total of 9154 students who appeared from the above mentioned schools just 1337 students qualified through NEET. It must not be forgotten that previously it was said that only few students could get MBBS seat this year. The total number of seats available for state quota this year is 3328. Out of these 3328 seats as many as 2247 seats are available in state government medical colleges, 127 seats available in Rajah Muthaiah Medical College affiliated to Annamalai University plus 65 seats in ESIC and 689 seats in self financing medical colleges under the state quota.
According to a source, those students who are within the top 3000 ranks are assured of their medical seats. The source also pointed that there would be an outside chance for those students between 3000 to 5000 ranks to get medical seat. Around 10 students from government and government aided schools would get medical seat this year was also brought out. Inside the top 5000 ranks as many as 16 students belonging to government and government aided schools are present.
As many as 409 applications were received from the students belonging to government schools and out of thee just 390 students were found eligible. Likewise 991 applications were received from the students belonging to government aided schools and 930 students were found eligible.
Out of five students who got MBBS admission in 2017 based on their NEET marks, 2 students got admission in government medical colleges and three students in government quota seats got admission in private medical colleges.
