As a step to check and reduce pollution due to emission from the vehicles, all vehicles fitted with BS-3 technology are banned from sales. The last day for sales of this vehicle was 31st March.
Due to the last moment rush as per the above ban on BS-3 vehicles, the number of registration of vehicles on 31st March was triple in Tamil Nadu.
The central government has ordered that the vehicles with BS-4 technology only should be manufactured throughout the country from 1st April.
In this situation, substantial discounts were offered by the manufacturer to sell maximum vehicles fitted with BS-3 Technology before 1st April. So, there was a huge increase in sales.
The officials informed regarding this spurt in the registration of vehicles on 31st March that as a general routine, around 5000 to 7000 vehicles are registered during a normal day.
However, on 31st March, 20876 vehicles were registered throughout Tamil Nadu state. The activity of compiling the data pertaining to 4-wheelers is in progress. If the proof for having bought the vehicle on 31st March is there are no problems in registering the vehicle. In this regard, no final date has been fixed.
