Fortis Malar Hospital and Terumo Corporation Chennai Branch organised a CME workshop on �Chronic Total Occlusion Interventional Cardiology� at Fortis Malar Hospital, Adyar. The workshop provided a forum for discussion on the advance technique in Interventional Cardiology like Coronary Angioplasty that serve as a viable treatment option for Chronic Total Occlusion
The agenda included a live demonstration on four middle aged patients lead by Dr. Kenji Kawajiri, Matsubara Tokushukai Hospital, Japan and a parallel interactive discussion led by a team of prominent Fortis Malar cardiologists.

Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) is the complete BLOCK of Coronary Arteries WITH NO AVAILABLE LUMEN or OPENING in the arteries of the heart caused by the build up of plaque. Every lesion tends to pose a challenge since they can be of different lengths and location. There is also the possibility of multiple blocks with varying degrees of blockage. A block is termed �Chronic Total Occlusion� after it is clinically estimated to have existed for over 3 months.
