Are left handed people more intelligent?

Posted on: 16/Aug/2016 12:32:50 PM
It is widely believed that the left handed people are intelligent and have got out-of-the-box thinking and artist talent. How far these are true and does science back all these facts? Does left-handedness make people more creative?

Whether or not these facts are true can be answered with a partial yes. Scientists have always been eager to explore the truth behind these facts. There are hardly ten percent people who are left handed. Studies on these beliefs about left-handedness and conditions like mental illness, criminal behavior, and faulty immune systems are being done. Are lefties better in solving problems and have they got lesser lifetime period? With all these researches and studies, there is one fact very clear that science is too perplexing.

All these studies made on left handedness and its consequence on creativity hint that those who are left handed need to consistently stay flexible to the world that functions right handed, whereas the other studies say there is no such link at all. There are a few other researches that claim no difference in smartness with lefties as compared to righties. Lefties are however constantly being boasted that they have higher intellectual advantage. Which is true? Is there truly any left handed personality? Are lefties more prone to disabilities with learning and schizophrenia? This totally relies on whom the question is thrown to.

Recent studies conducted in the past few years finally conclude that there is nothing to do with which hand is dominant, but the degree of its dominance that matters. There are a few who are entirely left handed or entirely right handed. It is like a spectrum. We make use of left hand for a few works and right for few others.

According to experiments made on the usage of hands, it is clear that those falling under the middle of the spectrum think flexible. Such individuals are even more empathetic and view thins in all new perspective. The others are often referred to as inconsistent handed people by the researchers. They are poor in making decisions. They focus more on risks than benefits when there are risky situations. These people also sleep differently.
