Indian Origin NASA Astronaut Anil Menon Reaches International Space Station

NASA astronaut Dr. Anil Menon, an Indian origin space traveler, has safely arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) aboard Russia`s Soyuz MS -29 spacecraft, marking the beginning of his first space mission.

The Soyuz MS - 29 spacecraft was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan with a three member crew, including Anil Menon and Russian cosmonauts Pyotr Dubrov and Anna Kikina.

During his eight month mission aboard the ISS, Dr. Menon will conduct several scientific, medical, and technological experiments. One of his primary research projects will examine how long-duration space travel affects the human circulatory and nervous systems, using his own body to study the physiological impact of extended missions in space.

He will also investigate how astronauts can perform medical examinations independently during future deep-space missions without relying on support from Earth.

In addition, NASA said Dr. Menon will participate in research on manufacturing semiconductors in a microgravity environment, a study expected to support the development of advanced medical technologies and artificial intelligence systems.
