By 10th July, Chennai city to get water from Jolarpet

Jolarpet situated in the Vellore district is grabbing many eyeballs now. It is now said that by 10th of July 2019 city of Chennai is likely to receive its first water train from Jolarpet. The superb information is the work on building infrastructure at Jolarpet and Chennai to transport water for the city that has been facing severe water shortage has been accelerated.
Every day, nearly 10 million litres of water would be brought by 50 wagon train from the Jolarpet railway station. It has been mentioned by the sources belonging to the metro water department that the project had been speeded up at both Chennai as well as in Jolarpet so that by 10th July water could be transported to Chennai city. The sources later pointed out that it would take up to 4 daily trips for the volume of water received under the Combined Water Supply Scheme and Cauvery would be the source.

From the Kilpauk water works, water would be taken to central as well as north Chennai. Negotiations regarding the transportation cost have been going on with the southern railway. Point to be noted is nearly 80% of the project cost of Rs 65 crores would go for transportation cost. The officials finally spoke about how this would be one of contingency steps to sustain water supply of 525 mld till November to Chennai.
