The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from June 10 to June 15 due to an upper-air cyclonic circulation over South India.

Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in the hill areas of Tirunelveli, Theni, and Kanniyakumari districts on June 10 and 11. On June 12, districts including Coimbatore hill regions, Nilgiris, Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Erode, and Salem may receive heavy rainfall. A yellow alert has been issued for these areas.

Meanwhile, Chennai is expected to witness partly cloudy skies with light rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in some parts of the city during the evening and night hours over the next few days.

Despite the rain forecast, temperatures remain high across the state. Meenambakkam recorded the highest temperature at 40.7°C (105.26°F), followed by Nungambakkam at 40.4°C (104.72°F).

Fishermen have been advised to exercise caution as strong winds are expected over parts of the Tamil Nadu coast and adjoining sea areas.
