Posted on: 02/Feb/2019 9:40:57 AM
On the four campuses of Anna University there are students who are studying final year under Choice Based Credit System or CBCS. The news is Anna University or AU has got plans to conduct supplementary examinations for these final year students. It is worthy to mention that the academic council of AU relaxed arrear rules for the students studying under the CBCS (2017 regulations) in affiliated engineering colleges and allowed the students to write arrears exams immediately after their semester examinations. In addition to this the academic council of AU passed another resolution to help the university students who are studying under CBCS.

The important piece of information collected was under this CBCS if a student failed to clear any subject they have to reappear along with the regular students when that course was offered next time. In odd semester if a student could not clear a course then the student could only reappear for the exam when it was offered the next year.

As per a member belonging to the academic council, the new rule would be of huge benefit for the students as it would help them to complete their courses within 4 years of time instead of an extra year if the students fail to clear the subjects in 7th and 8th semesters.

It was in the year 2015 CBCS or Choice Based Credit System was first introduced at the 4 campuses of AU that is College of Engineering Guindy, Alagappa College of Technology, School of Architecture and Planning and Madras Institute of Technology or MIT, Chromepet. It must be taken into account that the first batch of students studying under CBCS have graduated to the fourth year. It was pointed out by some sources belonging to the university that if the students fail to clear any subject in 7th or 8th semesters then the students have to study an extra year to clear the arrears. This is as per the existing rules. The point is AU is having plans to introduce supplementary examinations for the courses they register in 7th and 8th semesters. As per the officials it is clear that open day revaluation for November/December 2018 exams would be introduced.
