On 15th of September in the year 2011, the then chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Dr. J. Jayalalitha made many heads turn when she launched free laptops for the students studying in Tamil Nadu. This was appreciated by many is known.
On Wednesday, 27th February, 2019, the present chief minister of TN, Mr. E. Palaniswami commissioned the distribution of laptops for the students of higher secondary classes belonging to the government and government aided schools. Students who are studying in many polytechnics plus schools for differently able would also be benefited by this laptop distribution.
The important piece of information collected is laptops worth amount if Rs 1340.44 would be distributed for the students in this 2018-19. At the secretariat, as many as 7 students from different parts of TN received laptops from the chief minister in person. It is worthy to note that in 2017-18 as many as 3788528 students received laptops of worth of Rs 5552.39 crores.
The chief minister of TN, Mr. E. Palaniswami, caught the attention of many when he declared open as many as 467 residential quarters for the police personnel and the quarters were constructed in Gandhipuram in Coimbatore. Other places where the police quarters were built for the police personnel are Pudupet in Chennai, Manimuthar in the district of Tirunelveli and Gudimangalm in Tiruppur district.
In addition to the above mentioned, the chief minister laid foundation stone for 113 residential quarters and these residential quarters would be constructed in Villupuram and in Salem and an amount of Rs 26.25 crores would be spent on them. It is important to mention that the chief minister was also involved in the inauguration of buildings for the police and fire and rescue service departments in many places. On the Kamarajar Road on the beachfront, the chief minister unveiled an arch that was constructed at an amount of Rs 2.52 crores. This was done to mark the birth centenary of former chief minister of TN, Dr. M.G. Ramachandran. It must not be forgotten that High Court of Madras had dismissed a PIL against the construction of the arch on 21st of February.
