Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Temperatures Cross 100°F in Several Cities, Rain Forecast for Western Ghats

Tamil Nadu continues to experience above-normal temperatures, even as a few parts of the state received rainfall. Maximum temperatures were recorded at 2°C to 5°C above normal across several locations.

Temperatures crossed the 100°F mark in Meenambakkam, Nungambakkam, Madurai Airport, Madurai city, Palayamkottai, Parangipettai, Tiruchy, Vellore and Nagapattinam, indicating continued hot weather conditions across many parts of Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, a weak trough in the lower atmospheric levels is prevailing over the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, influencing weather conditions across the state.

Rain Forecast for Western Ghats Districts

Today, one or two places in the Western Ghats districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds. Wind speeds could reach 40 to 50 kmph in some areas.

One or two places across the rest of Tamil Nadu, as well as Puducherry and Karaikal, are also likely to receive light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

Above-Normal Temperatures Likely Until July 31

Despite the possibility of rainfall, hot weather conditions are expected to continue across parts of Tamil Nadu. Until July 31, maximum temperatures at a few locations are likely to remain 2°C to 4°C above normal.

The combination of above-normal temperatures, thunderstorms and strong winds is expected to result in varying weather conditions across the state over the coming days.
