Anna Centenary Library Unveils Diverse Summer Programs for Children and Young Adults

Posted on: 01/May/2024 10:32:51 AM

The Anna Centenary Library is gearing up to host an array of engaging programs and workshops aimed at children this summer. Collaborating with the American Center - U.S. Consulate General, the library will offer workshops on robotics, 3D printing, and theatre, starting May 9 for individuals aged 18 and above.

In a bid to foster learning and cultural appreciation, the library will kickstart a month-long summer program for children beginning May 1. The lineup includes diverse art forms such as magic shows, reading sessions, puppet shows, kirigami, and traditional Tamil art forms like Bommalattam. Admission is free, and the programs are designed to both entertain and educate.

The library aims to expose children to traditional art forms like Oyilattam, Thaala vaathiyam, and Bommalattam, which are regularly showcased in government schools. Children aged 4 to 16 can participate, learning about the art forms and even trying their hand at playing musical instruments.

In a new initiative, the library will also host workshops tailored for young adults, covering topics like robotics, 3D printing, and theatre, starting May 9 for individuals aged 18 and above.

Additionally, the library plans to screen films for children on Sundays, aiming to not only entertain but also encourage meaningful discussions among peers, fostering important social skills.
