Tamil Nadu ITI Admission 2026-27: Direct Admission Deadline Extended to August 31

The Tamil Nadu government has extended the deadline for direct admission to Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) until August 31, 2026, providing additional time for students who missed the counselling process to secure admission.

The extension has been announced in the interest of students following the completion of the counselling schedule for the 2026-27 academic year.

Tamil Nadu ITI Admission Deadline Extended

According to the Employment and Training Department, Tamil Nadu has 132 government ITIs and 277 private ITIs operating under the vocational training system.

The counselling period for admission to government ITIs for the 2026-27 academic year ended on August 14. However, considering the interests of students, the department has extended the opportunity for direct admission until August 31.

Students who are interested in joining ITI courses are advised to make use of the extended deadline and contact the concerned ITI for admission details.

ITI Students Get Training Without Tuition Fees

One of the major benefits of joining government ITIs in Tamil Nadu is that students do not have to pay training fees.

Students are also eligible for several government welfare benefits during their training. A monthly educational assistance of ₹750 is provided to eligible students.

Students who studied in government schools can receive an additional ₹1,000 per month under the Tamil Pudhalvan and Pudhumai Penn schemes, subject to eligibility.

Free Benefits for Tamil Nadu ITI Students

Eligible students can also receive various government-provided benefits, including:

- Free bicycles

- Free uniforms

- Free footwear

- Free training tool kits

- Free bus travel facilities

- Monthly financial assistance

- Hostel facilities at selected government ITIs

These benefits are intended to reduce the financial burden on students and encourage more young people to pursue skill-based vocational education and technical training.

ITI Training Offers Employment Opportunities

The department has stated that around 95% of trainees who completed training at ITIs in previous years secured employment in leading companies.

ITI courses provide students with practical technical skills and industry-oriented training, helping them prepare for employment opportunities in various sectors.
