₹1.02 Lakh Crore Investment: Chief Minister Vijay Launches Vetri Tamil Nadu Investors Conference

Chennai: The Vetri Tamil Nadu Investors Conference has begun in Chennai under the leadership of Chief Minister Vijay. The event is being held as the first major investors’ conference since the TVK government came to power, raising expectations across the state’s business and industrial sectors.

The conference is being held at a private hotel in Chennai and was inaugurated by Chief Minister Vijay at 11 am. According to the announcement, investments worth ₹1,02,514 crore have been attracted to Tamil Nadu within the first 100 days of the TVK government.

The conference comes as the TVK government completes around three months in office. The government is expected to highlight the investments secured so far and its plans to strengthen Tamil Nadu’s industrial and business environment.

Following Vijay taking charge as Chief Minister, criticism had emerged claiming that investments that were expected to come to Tamil Nadu were instead moving to states such as Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. There were also allegations that the state was attracting fewer investments under the new government.

Former AIADMK minister R.B. Udhayakumar had claimed that Tamil Nadu had fallen to 17th position in the industrial sector. Some reports and political statements had also suggested that industrial investments, which were considered strong during the previous DMK government, had declined after the change in government.

Industrial Minister Keerthana had also faced criticism over several issues. Against this backdrop, expectations are high over the investors’ conference and the government’s ability to demonstrate its performance in attracting investments.

The conference is therefore being viewed as an important opportunity for the government to present its investment achievements and outline its plans for boosting industrial development and employment opportunities in Tamil Nadu.
