Fire Accident Near Anna Salai: No Injuries Reported
A fire broke out on Thursday afternoon at a godown located behind the LIC building on Thiru Vi Ka Road near Anna Salai in Chennai.
The incident occurred around 12 pm in an automobile spare parts godown set up on the terrace of a two-storey commercial building. Workers initially tried to control the flames, but the fire spread quickly, forcing them to evacuate. Shops on the lower floors were also cleared as a precaution.
Thick black smoke filled the area, making visibility difficult. The Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services rushed to the spot with eight fire tenders and two water tankers. After more than two hours of intense effort, firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control.
Preliminary reports suggest that sparks from welding work may have triggered the fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and officials are currently assessing the extent of property damage.
