Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple Renovation to Be Completed by September 10; Kumbabishekam Scheduled for September 17

The renovation works at the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple are expected to be completed by September 10, and the Kumbabishekam (consecration ceremony) will be held as scheduled on September 17, the Tamil Nadu government informed the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court.

The update was provided during the hearing of a petition filed by Radhakrishnan from Salem, seeking directions to recover the properties belonging to the Meenakshi Amman Temple and its sub-temples, complete the renovation works, and conduct the long-pending Kumbabishekam at the earliest.

The petition came up for hearing before a division bench comprising Justices Karthikeyan and Sakthivel.

Renovation Works Near Completion

During the hearing, the government informed the court that the restoration of the Veeravasantharayar Mandapam, which was damaged in a fire accident, is in its final stages. Construction of a new modern temple kitchen has also commenced as part of the renovation project.

According to the government, all renovation and restoration works are expected to be completed by September 10, allowing the Kumbabishekam to take place on September 17 as planned.

The government also informed the court that encroachment removal works related to the temple properties are currently underway.

After recording the government`s submissions, the bench adjourned the case to July 29 for further hearing.
