One of the top class educational institutions in India is Indian institute of Technology Madras or IIT-M. This IIT-M has now joined hands with Vertiv and IIT-M Pravartak Technologies Foundation. It must be noted that Vertiv is the global leader in digital infrastructure. The main aim of this association would be to develop a skilled digital talent pool in India.
It is now mentioned that as a part of the initiative more than 20000 students of science, technology, engineering and mathematics or STEM would be trained with a 35 hour self paced online programme in data centre operations and maintenance.
5 day immersive programme at IIT-M:
About 160 students would be selected from an initial pool of students and these students would get a chance to attend a 5 day immersive programme at IIT0M campus. It is learnt that these selected students would be trained on certified intelligent data centre operations and maintenance that is recognised for AI powered data centres.
As per Mr. M.J. Shankar Raman, CEO, IITM Pravartak due to the AI growth careers around data centres would witness traction and growth. It is now said that this association would prepare students to be future ready workforce.
Curriculum:
To equip participants with industry relevant skills, the curriculum has been designed. The students would get both theoretical knowledge as well as practical exposure aligned with the demands of the Indian digital economy. The curriculum has been designed to increase the student employability.
The next generation of engineers and technologists would be equipped with new and practical knowledge of data. This was according to MD of Vertiv India Mr. Subhasis Majumdar.
Topics covered in the training programme:
Various topics that would be covered in the training programme are data centre infrastructure, thermal and power management plus others like remote monitoring, predictive maintenance strategies essential for maintaining uptime and operational efficiency. It is brought out that those who are taking part would gain exposure to industry case studies and practical demos.
It was later revealed by dean (Alumni and Corporate relations) IIT-M professor Ashwin Mahalingam that students would be equipped with cutting-edge skills and would be contributing to India`s largest digital transformation journey.
