Southern Railway Plans 24x7 Emergency Medical Rooms at Chennai Railway Stations

The Chennai Division of Southern Railway is planning to set up 24x7 emergency medical rooms with pharmacies at major railway stations including Chennai Egmore, Tambaram, Katpadi and Chengalpattu.

The facilities will provide round-the-clock medical assistance for passengers, including first aid, emergency care, trained medical staff, ambulance support and essential medicines.

Southern Railway has invited hospitals and healthcare agencies to participate in the project through an e-bidding process. Officials said the move is aimed at improving passenger safety and ensuring quicker medical response at busy railway stations.

The last date for submitting bids through the Indian Railway E-Procurement System portal is June 1, 2026.
