In the future, don`t be surprised if you come across air-conditioned rooms with modern fitness equipment etc at the gymnasiums or gyms in Tamil Nadu!!

Soon, athletes across the state of Tamil Nadu would receive high quality training at an affordable cost. Thanks to the latest move by SDAT or Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu.

It must be noted that SDAT has launched a Rs 9.7cr project to modernise gymnasiums or gyms present in all the districts in TN. The objective behind this move would be to provide superb top quality training to all the athletes at an affordable cost.

The SDAT gym present at Nungambakkam would be focussed first as the Chennai Open would begin by the end of the month of October. According to Mr. Megnath Reddy who is a member secretary of SDAT 25 gyms would be restored. He added that 2 gyms are at SDAT complex in Velachery and Nungambakkam.

The sensational piece of information is that all the gyms would be modernised with air-conditioned rooms and modern fitness equipment including hydraulic equipment. In many districts across TN basic works like flooring, painting etc are being done now. It must be taken into note that gyms at the district sports complexes in SDAT have been identified for upgrade.

Renovation works at Velachery sports complex:

All the glass panels would be replaced by SDAT here, ceiling lights would be installed and new floor mats would be put. Hydraulic equipment for full body workouts would be set up also. It is worthy to note that about 100 athletes visit this gym everyday and the gym would be free for the district, state and national athletes.

Renovation works at Nungambakkam sports complex:

Visitors would be taken by surprise at this sports complex as there would be wooden flooring plus various strengthening equipment like dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, resistance bands etc plus equipment for cardiovascular agility such as treadmill, elliptical, agility hurdles etc. This would help the tennis players to a huge extent. All renovations would get over by this month before the start of the Chennai Open event.

Not only in Chennai, but the renovation of gyms would be carried out also in other districts like Madurai, Trichy, Tuticorin and Coimbatore also. An amount ranging between Rs 32 lakhs to Rs 50 Lakhs would be spent on each gym.
