Temporary Traffic Diversions Announced in Egmore Area, Chennai
To ease traffic congestion in the busy Pantheon Roundana area of Egmore, Chennai Traffic Police have announced temporary traffic diversions for one day.
The Pantheon Roundana is a complex junction with five road intersections and two roundabouts, often experiencing heavy traffic flow. To regulate movement and reduce congestion, the following changes will be implemented tomorrow (9th) during peak hours.
Traffic Diversion Timings
Morning: 8.30 am to 11.00 am
Evening: 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm
Details of Traffic Changes
- Rukmani Lakshmipathi Road will function as a one-way road from Pantheon Roundana up to the Mandiyath Road junction.
- Vehicles coming from Ethiraj Road towards Rukmani Lakshmipathi Road must turn left at the Rukmani Lakshmipathi Road–Mandiyath Road junction and proceed via Mandiyath Road.
- From Mandiyath Road, vehicles should use the service road near the Government Museum, Egmore and continue through Pantheon Road to reach Pantheon Roundana.
- Vehicles coming from Mandiyath Road and Mandiyath Lane will not be permitted to take a left turn onto Rukmani Lakshmipathi Road during the diversion hours.
Advisory to Motorists
Motorists are advised to plan their travel in advance, follow traffic signage, and cooperate with traffic police on duty. These temporary arrangements are intended to ensure smoother traffic flow and reduce delays in the Egmore–Pantheon Road stretch during peak hours.
