Tesla Chennai Showroom: New Experience Centre to Open This Week

Tesla is set to expand its presence in India with a new experience centre in Chennai, which is expected to open this week. The Chennai outlet will become the electric vehicle maker’s third location in South India, after Bengaluru and Hyderabad, and its sixth retail outlet in India.

The new Chennai centre will allow customers to view Tesla vehicles and explore the available models. The company is also expanding its service, charging and after-sales network in India as it seeks to strengthen its presence in the growing electric vehicle market.

Tesla Sales in Tamil Nadu

Tesla has recorded 38 vehicle sales in Tamil Nadu so far this year, according to a report published on September 22, 2026. The new Chennai experience centre is expected to support the company’s sales and customer outreach in the state.

Tesla Models Available in India

Tesla currently offers two Model Y variants in India: the Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and the Model Y L All-Wheel Drive (AWD). The Model Y Premium RWD is priced at ₹50.89 lakh, while the Model Y L AWD starts at ₹61.99 lakh, according to Tesla and recent reports.

The Model Y Premium RWD offers seating for five and a claimed range of up to 500 km, while the Model Y L AWD is a three-row, six-seat model with a claimed range of up to 681 km.

Tesla Charging and Service Network

Along with expanding its retail presence, Tesla is working to strengthen its charging and service infrastructure in India. The company has announced plans to expand service, body shop and charging facilities across additional cities, including Chennai.

The opening of the Chennai experience centre will give customers in Tamil Nadu a new location to explore Tesla’s electric vehicles and access the company’s expanding sales and support network.
