TNEA 2026 General Counselling Begins Today: 1.98 Lakh Engineering Seats Available Across 418 Colleges

The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 general counselling process begins today, offering thousands of aspiring engineering students the opportunity to secure seats in colleges across the state. Candidates with cut-off marks between 200 and 171 and ranks from 1 to 37,976 are eligible to participate in the first round of online counselling, which will continue until July 22.

Earlier, the 7.5% Government School Reservation counselling for special category students was successfully completed. On July 13, 137 government school students who confirmed their provisional allotment received their online college allotment orders.

The special category online counselling, held from July 15 to July 18, included 4,927 eligible candidates. A total of 813 students received seat allotments, including:

- 258 Differently-Abled candidates
- 416 Sports Quota candidates
- 139 Children of Ex-Servicemen

Students eligible under the 7.5% Government School Reservation and vocational stream candidates will participate in the counselling process alongside the general category in the same round.

This year, 418 engineering colleges are participating in the TNEA counselling process, offering a total of 1,98,825 engineering seats across Tamil Nadu.

Candidates are advised to complete their online choice filling, confirm their preferences before the deadline, and regularly check the official counselling portal for allotment updates and further announcements.
