Anna Salai Elevated Flyover Works Progressing at Teynampet–Saidapet Stretch
The construction of the 3.20 km long four-lane elevated flyover on Anna Salai, between Teynampet and Saidapet, is progressing steadily. The project, launched by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on January 19, 2024, is being executed at an estimated cost of ₹621 crore to ease traffic congestion along the busy corridor.
Minister for Public Works, Highways and Minor Ports, A.V. Velu, recently inspected the project site. With 40 percent of the work completed, the Minister directed officials to expedite the foundation, micro-piling, geosynthetic layering, and welding works in the metro tunnel and other sections. He emphasized the need to complete foundation works before the onset of the monsoon season.
He also instructed officials from the Traffic Police, Electricity Board, Greater Chennai Corporation, Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, and the Forest Department to coordinate at the work sites to ensure smooth progress without causing inconvenience to the public.
