The GST authorities have launched a new Excel-based IMS Offline Tool on the GST portal to make tax filing easier for taxpayers. The tool allows users to complete GST-related work offline without needing a continuous internet connection.

This new facility is expected to help taxpayers who often face issues such as slow or unstable internet while filing returns. Users can prepare and manage invoice data offline and upload it later on the portal.

The IMS Offline Tool allows recipients to accept, reject, or keep invoices pending. These actions directly affect Input Tax Credit (ITC) claims shown in GSTR-2B and help improve the accuracy of GSTR-3B filings.

The main purpose of the tool is to simplify invoice matching, reduce ITC mismatches, and make GST compliance more convenient for businesses.

Taxpayers can download the tool from the GST portal under Downloads > Offline Tools > IMS Offline Tool.
