The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS), launched by the Central Government, aims to enhance youth employability and provide valuable workplace exposure. The scheme targets offering internship opportunities to one crore young people over the next five years.
Under the programme, selected candidates will receive practical workplace training in leading companies to improve their job readiness and professional skills. The pilot phase, launched in 2024-25, aims to provide 1.25 lakh internship opportunities.
Eligibility
The scheme is open to young people aged 18 to 25 years who are not in full-time employment. Candidates trained through ITIs and skill development centres are eligible to apply. However, graduates from premier institutions such as IITs and IIMs, as well as professionals holding qualifications like CA and CMA, are not eligible.
