Tamil Nadu Rain Alert: Heavy Rain Forecast for Nilgiris, Coimbatore; Chennai May Get Evening Rain

Several parts of Tamil Nadu are likely to receive rain, with heavy rainfall expected at isolated places in the Nilgiris and the ghat areas of Coimbatore district.

According to the weather forecast, a weak trough prevailing in the lower atmospheric levels over the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu is likely to bring rain to different parts of the State.

Heavy Rain Alert for Nilgiris and Coimbatore

On July 30, isolated places in the Nilgiris and the ghat areas of Coimbatore district may receive heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds.

Wind speeds could reach around 40 to 50 kmph in some areas.

Other Western Ghats districts, north coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may receive light to moderate rain at isolated places, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.

Other parts of Tamil Nadu may also experience isolated light rain with thunderstorms and lightning.

Heavy Rain Forecast for July 31 and August 1

On July 31, heavy rain is likely at isolated places over the Nilgiris, Theni and Kanniyakumari districts, along with the ghat areas of Coimbatore and Tirunelveli districts.

Similar heavy rainfall conditions are expected in these areas on August 1.

From August 2 to August 4, isolated moderate rainfall is likely over the Western Ghats districts. Other parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may receive light rain at isolated places.

Chennai Weather: Rain Possible in Evening or Night

In Chennai and its suburbs, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy.

Some parts of the city may experience light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning during the evening or night.

The maximum temperature in Chennai is expected to be around 38°C, while the minimum temperature may remain around 29°C.

Fishermen Advised to Avoid Certain Sea Areas

Strong winds are expected over parts of the South Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar, Comorin area and southwest Bay of Bengal.

Wind speeds may reach 45 to 55 kmph, gusting up to 65 kmph in some areas. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the specified sea regions during the warning period.
