The Chennai Meteorological Centre has forecast moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning at a few places in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Tiruchirappalli and Madurai districts on Friday, September 4.
According to the weather department, a weak low-level trough is prevailing along the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu. Due to this weather system, a few places in the Western Ghats districts, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Tiruchirappalli and Madurai may receive moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning on Friday.

The maximum temperature in some parts of interior Tamil Nadu is expected to remain slightly above normal until Monday, September 7.

On Thursday, the highest temperature was recorded at Palayamkottai, where the temperature reached 104.36°F.

Rainfall Recorded in Tamil Nadu
During the 24-hour period ending at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, 50 mm of rainfall was recorded in Thiruvathavur in Madurai district, Panavaram and Walajah in Ranipet district.
