Chinese cyber spies are accessing Indian sites since 2012, say experts

Internet security experts have said that cyber spies from China have, most likely, been accessing Indian government sites and universities for sensitive information. According to them, this may have been going on since 2012.
According to the experts, The hackers seemed particularly interested in India`s border dispute with neighbouring giant China as well as information on Tibetan activists... Its targets appear to be of particular interest to the Chinese government, such as Tibetan activists. It`s also well resourced and works around the clock. We found indicators in their malware that the group behind it may speak Chinese... Collecting intelligence on India remains a key strategic goal for China-based APT (advanced persistent threat) groups.
Reports say that the phishing emails that the hackers send contain attachments. These attachments have a script called watermain. This infects and accesses the computer when opened.
Many Indian government officials still use Hotmail or Gmail email addresses for official use.
