In phase 3, 125 electric buses will be operated from the Poonamallee depot!!
Important news for the residents of Chennai now regarding electric buses operations!!
The news is that in phase three MTC has plans to operate 125 electric buses from the Poonamallee depot from the month of September. It must be recalled that the TN government decided to buy 1225 electric buses with the help of financial aid from the World Bank.
In phase one, an agreement has been signed to buy 625 buses from Om Global Mobility, a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland. On 30th June, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. M.K. Stalin inaugurated the services of 120 new electric buses at a cost of Rs 208 cr. It is worth mentioning here that the infrastructure for charging these buses has been set up at Vyasarpadi workshop at Rs 47.5 cr.
In phase 2 , from Perumbakkam workshop 135 electric buses were operated is known. In this scenario, MTC has decided to operate 125 electric buses in the third phase.
