Southern Railway will operate two one-way special trains from Manamadurai and Nagercoil Junction to Tambaram on September 14, 2026, to clear the additional passenger rush during the Vinayagar Chaturthi festival.
The special trains are aimed at helping passengers travelling towards Chennai during the post-festival period.
Manamadurai–Tambaram Special Train
The Manamadurai–Tambaram one-way Unreserved MEMU Special will depart from Manamadurai at 2:30 PM on September 14 and reach Tambaram at 11:55 PM.
The train will operate via:
Madurai → Dindigul → Tiruchchirappalli → Ariyalur → Villupuram → Chengalpattu → Tambaram
Nagercoil–Tambaram Superfast Special
The Nagercoil Junction–Tambaram one-way Superfast Special will depart from Nagercoil Junction at 11:00 PM on September 14 and arrive at Tambaram at 10:45 AM on September 15.
The train will operate via:
Tirunelveli → Virudhunagar → Manamadurai → Karaikkudi → Pudukkottai → Tiruchchirappalli → Tambaram
Special Trains to Clear Festival Rush
The two special services have been introduced to accommodate the extra rush of passengers during Vinayagar Chaturthi and provide additional rail connectivity to Chennai.
Passengers travelling from southern Tamil Nadu to Chennai can make use of these one-way special trains to Tambaram during the festival period.
