Yercaud Express Upgraded with Modern LHB Coaches on Erode-Chennai Route

Passengers travelling on the Yercaud Express between Erode and Chennai can now enjoy a safer and more comfortable journey, as Southern Railway has introduced modern LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches on the popular train service.

The Erode–Chennai Central Yercaud Express (Train No. 22650) was operated with newly introduced LHB coaches for the first time on Wednesday, replacing the older conventional coaches.

The LHB coaches, manufactured in India using German technology, offer several advantages, including improved passenger safety, higher speed capability, better riding comfort, reduced vibrations, and increased seating capacity. These coaches are also equipped with anti-telescopic technology, which helps prevent coaches from piling up during accidents, enhancing passenger safety.

In addition, the modern coaches are designed with improved fire-resistant features and provide a smoother travel experience compared to older train coaches.

Railway officials said that the Chennai–Erode Yercaud Express will also be operated with LHB coaches from June 13, completing the transition of the train service to the new-generation coaches.

The introduction of LHB coaches has been welcomed by passengers, who expressed enthusiasm about the enhanced comfort and safety features offered by the upgraded train.
