Tamil Nadu Sees 244 New Dengue Cases in a Day, Total Reaches 16,577

Chennai: Dengue cases continue to increase across Tamil Nadu, with 244 new cases reported in a single day, according to the state Health Department.

So far this year, 16,577 people have been diagnosed with dengue in Tamil Nadu, while nine deaths have been reported.

On September 17, a total of 1,320 people were reported to have been affected by fever across the state. Of these, 244 were confirmed to have dengue.

In Chennai alone, 156 people were reported to have fever, of whom 87 were diagnosed with dengue.

The Tamil Nadu government has stated that dengue cases are relatively high in 10 districts, including Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram.

More than 25,000 health workers are currently involved in mosquito control and sanitation activities across Tamil Nadu as part of efforts to prevent the spread of dengue.
