Bonus for the construction workers in TN

This news would provide huge happiness on the faces of many construction workers in Tamil Nadu.
The State Labour Department had decided to implement the Payment of Bonus Act 1965 and the construction workers across Tamil Nadu would get bonus soon. The Labour Department is seeking stake-holders opinions and construction workers views also before deciding on going ahead with the bonus.
The new rule gets implemented then the construction firms would have to provide bonus for the workers especially if more than 10 are employed by the firm. It is brought out that the public should send their objections and suggestions to the Labour and Employment department office in Chennai inside 2 months from the date of gazette publication.
The government would then amend some clauses in the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act 1996 for the construction workers to receive bonus.
It is known that more than 30 lakh workers are registered with the state construction workers welfare board. The board is collecting one percent of the real estate project cost from the builders to implement welfare schemes. It must not be forgotten that the government had already announced free food for the construction workers at Amma Canteens in TN.
